The PALS Provider Course aims to improve outcomes for pediatric patients by preparing healthcare providers to effectively recognize and intervene in patients with respiratory emergencies, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest by using high‐performance team dynamics and high‐quality individual skills. The course includes a series of case scenario practices with simulations that reinforce important concepts.  Intended for, but not limited to, doctors, nurses, and EMS personnel.

AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider Course

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES

The PALS Provider Course is designed for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the management of respiratory and/or cardiovascular emergencies and cardiopulmonary arrest in pediatric patients. This course uses precourse preparation, didactic instruction, and active participation in learning stations and simulated cases to enhance the recognition and intervention of respiratory emergencies, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest.

AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Update Course

THE PEDIATRIC ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT (PALS) UPDATE COURSE IS FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN RENEWING THEIR CURRENT NON-EXPIRED PALS CERTIFICATION.

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES

The participants who complete this training program will be certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics® (AAP®) and American Heart Association® (AHA®) as a PALS Provider. This course is designed for the advanced-level medical provider (nurses, respiratory, physicians, paramedics) to review how to assess, care for, and resuscitate pediatric patients with respiratory, shock, and cardiac emergencies. With this training, you can better understand how to reduce the mortality of pediatric patients. Skills and treatments of potential and actual pediatric victims of cardiopulmonary emergencies. Skills include respiratory management, defibrillation, cardioversion, IO insertion, fluid administration, and team dynamics, emphasizing high-quality CPR. American Heart Association certification eCard provided.

COURSE LENGTH

The course is 6-8 hours approximately, with a DVD presentation, lecture, practical application, written test, and skills test. (Note: Class time can be extended to ensure all material is covered following the AHA Guidelines.)

PREREQUISITE:

ECG familiarity

AHA HeartCode® PALS

THE AHA HEARTCODE® PALS COURSE IS DONE IN A BLENDED LEARNING FORMAT AND CAN BE COMPLETED BY INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE A CURRENT OR EXPIRED PALS CERTIFICATION, OR INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE NEVER TAKEN PALS PREVIOUSLY.
